Dad Court Help.

DAD STRONG // PRACTICAL GUIDE

High-Conflict Co-Parenting Documentation.

Good documentation reduces confusion. It should not become constant surveillance, retaliation, or a running argument about the other parent.

Educational information only. Family-law rules and court procedures differ by state. This is not legal advice and does not create an attorney-client relationship.

Use one communication channel

When permitted, use a consistent written channel for schedules, school, health, expenses, and decisions. Keep messages brief and specific.

Separate urgent from non-urgent

Define true emergencies and use normal response windows for routine matters. Repeated urgent labels can make records harder to evaluate.

Keep an incident log

Record date, time, event, people present, exact words when important, action taken, and supporting record. Avoid assumptions about motive.

Track patterns with summaries

A monthly summary of missed exchanges or unanswered decision requests is easier to understand than hundreds of unsorted screenshots.

Set lawful boundaries

Follow the order, avoid entering the other home or account, and use safe exchange locations or third-party services if authorized and appropriate.

Protect children from the record

Do not question children, record them repeatedly, or ask them to report on the other home. Seek professional help for genuine safety or mental-health concerns.

Preparation checklist

  • Single message channel
  • Shared calendar
  • Incident log
  • Monthly pattern summary
  • Original-file archive
  • Emergency contact plan

Where to verify the rules

Use your official state court website and local court self-help center for current forms and procedures. You can also search LawHelp.org and the Legal Services Corporation directory for local legal-aid options.
