Emergency Family-Law Resources in Ohio
Official starting points for immediate safety, interim allocation orders, civil protection orders, and Ohio DCY / county PCSA.
Temporary orders involving children
Ohio does not promise same-day rulings on any private interim allocation filing. Use the Court of Common Pleas interim / emergency procedure and county forms, and confirm the receiving court's local intake and deadlines.
A parent can request interim allocation of parental rights and responsibilities through the Court of Common Pleas procedure. For an immediate threat, a Civil Protection Order (CPO) petition is a separate, faster route.
Civil Protection Order (CPO)
An Ohio CPO is issued under R.C. 3113.31 — no filing fee. A judge can issue an ex parte order on the same day the petition is filed; a full hearing follows within 7 or 10 court days. A final CPO can last up to 5 years (extendable). Obey every term; only the issuing court can change it.
Ohio child protective (DCY)
Reports of suspected abuse or neglect go to the Ohio Department of Children and Youth (DCY) at 855-642-4453 (24/7); call 911 for an immediate emergency. A report can lead to a county Public Children Services Agency (PCSA) investigation. An unfounded/expunged report does not prove it was knowingly false and does not by itself end parenting time.
